On This Day in Rock History August 11th 1965: The Beatles 2nd Movie ‘Help’ had it’s American Premiere in New York City : It immediately played to sold out crowds. Fans couldn’t get enough and went back again and again to several showings throughout the week. Here’s a Scene from the Film: “The Night Before”. A rare video put together methinks by a fan. Check out the vintage TV set from the era. LOL.
BTW: Exactly One Year later to the day: August 11, 1966…The Beatles arrived at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport to start their last tour of the U.S. And the Year before on the same day in 1964: August 11, 1964…The Beatles’ first feature film, “A Hard Day’s Night,” had its U.S. premiere in New York City. There’s something about August 11th ? Also on August 11th: 8.11.1987…Rolling Stone magazine declared “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by the Beatles to be the best album of the last 20 years.
